2006 Business Excellence Award Winners

The fabric of our community contains many diverse companies.  Through business success, growth, community involvement, dedication to employees and commitment to customer service, ACC Home Care and Southwest Ambulance rose about the crowd.  The two companies were honored at the 9th Annual Breakfast for Champions.

ACC Home Care was founded by in 1991 by Mark and Connie Thompson.  From coordinating community resources to in-home care, Adult Care Consultants (ACC) Home Care is the one stop shop for eldercare services.  Last year they coordinated a healthcare team of volunteers that went to Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina. ACC strives  to provide excellence while meeting the needs of the individuals it serves. Maintaining dignity while aging in place is the company's motto. 

"We want to thank the Tempe Chamber of Commerce for this award," said Mark Thompson, co-owner of ACC Home Care.  "After 15 years it is an honor to be recognized for our commitment to our community and for the services provided by ACC to seniors and vulnerable adults.  We truly believe that you receive more when you give and this is a prime example of that belief."

Connie Thompson RN

Connie Thompson is a “real” Tempe native; born at Tempe Community Hospital.  Connie is a registered nurse and has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. Connie is the co-founder of ACC, an elder care consulting and home care business. 

Connie is active in the local and national health community.  In 2005, Connie led a privately sponsored health team to Baton Rouge Louisiana to provide relief for Hurricane Katrina refugees.  Prior to that, Connie helped establish the first valley-wide system of shelters for abused seniors.

For her recognition in business and community service, Connie’s company (ACC) was the recipient of the Tempe Chamber’s 2006 Business Excellence Award.  In addition, Adult Care Consultants was recently recognized by the East Valley Chamber Alliance and the Arizona Business Journal as Tempe’s Business of the Year.
